*= Challenge winner

My Conquestadory has second preference in the Juvenile Fillies
Ria Antonia has first preference in the Juvenile Fillies
Rosalind has first Preference in the Juvenile Fillies
Dancing House has second preference in the Juvenile Fillies

This years Juvenile Fillies Turf is very intriguing with My Conquestadory facing possibly the toughest field she has yet to face, with a host of some very capable Europeans ready to challenge her undefeated record. There are also many capable Americans ready to spoil her party, but if she comes out the winner she could very well clinch champion two year old filly awards. I will break down the field for those that have first preference in this race and will give you my top five picks and plays.

The Contenders

Kitten Kaboodle: won the JP Morgan Chase Jessamine Stakes last out a race that hasn't proven to be a key prep for this race, but I have a feeling this daughter of Kitten's Joy could be the one to buck that trend. I like how she wasn't afraid to go through a hole on the rail and shoot through to win impressively she probably learned a lot from this prep and could use that experience here in what is likely to be a packed field.

My Conquestadory: has done nothing wrong in her two starts she beat the boys in a GR2 stake in her debut and just when you thought she couldn't get any better she made easy work of  a GR1 field of fillies in the Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland. The sky is the limit for this filly and she only seems to be getting better.

Testa Rossi (FR): this filly has made six starts this year the bulk of them in France before being transferred to the barn of the more than capable Chad Brown. She managed to win three races over in France before coming to US soil where she captured the Miss Grillo Stakes which has proven to be a vital prep for this race. I like how she has loads of racing experience to back up on and will be awfully tough to get by in the stretch.

Al Thakhira (GB): a perfect two for two could very well beat My Conquestadory and in my opinion is the most likely to do it, these Europeans are always dangerous and cannot be counted out when it comes to these turf races.

Chriselliam (IRE): this one has made five starts with two wins a second to show for her efforts she has been running primarily in Europe and with moderate success. Would need to take major steps forward to win this one.

Clenor (IRE): this one has made six starts with three wins and a third to show for herself. She has a win over the surface which is a huge advantage in these juvenile races. She ran primarily in Ireland before making three US starts in which she won all three she will be awfully tough come Breeders Cup day.

Colonel Joan: this filly is still a maiden she has run three races with her best finish being a second place finish. She would need a miracle to beat this field of very talented fillies.

Dancing House: won her debut at Saratoga then ran a very good third in the Spinaway Stakes before switching to turf and putting in another good performance to run third in the Miss Grillo Stakes. Could potentially pull out an upset victory if she takes the right steps forward.

Flying Jib (GB): three starts and two wins this European is definitely one to be reckoned with she could very well beat this field and Juddmonte Farms has continually produced Breeders Cup winners, so don't be surprised if this one wears the flowers Breeders Cup day.

Granny Mc's Kitten: ran an okay fourth in the Miss Grillo would need to make good forward progression to even hit the board I much prefer her stablemate in this race, but you shouldn't discount a Kittens Joy this year, so don't be surprised if she does make the progression and run well enough to light up the tote.

Nesso: three starts this year and one win and two seconds to show for her efforts. Needs to take about twelve steps forward to have a chance against this deep a field.

Ready To Act: two starts for this filly and one win and one off the board finish would need to take major steps forward to win this one.

Sky Painter: love this filly though she had trouble getting by Testa Rossi in the Miss Grillo I still liked what I saw she has a very explosive kick that could very well stun her opponents she could very well be blowing by them all on Breeders Cup day.

Street Sailing: four starts and two wins for this daughter of Street Boss would need to take a major step forward to win this one.

Vorda (FR): this one has won four of her five starts and hasn't done anything wrong definietly one to watch she could very well repeat for the French in here and give them their second Juvenile Fillies Turf winner.

Triple Crown Reactions

I got into horse racing way back in 2004 thanks to a plucky little chestnut horse named Smarty Jones who swept through the Kentucky Derby and Preakness with devastating ease I thought for sure even with my limited horse racing knowledge at that time that he would be racings 12th Triple Crown winner. My hopes were dashed as another plucky little colt named Birdstone swept on by him and dashed all my hopes in that final heartbreaking furlong.  The Triple Crown is part of what fueled my love for this sport at such a young age, and after Smarty Jones I spent most of my life thinking I would never have the privilege to witness a Triple Crown winner. So when American Pharoah came along I relished every hoofbeat, every race-call, and every heart stopping moment along the trail. I probably have watched his Belmont over a hundred times, and I could probably recite it word for word by now. I remember exactly where I was when he crossed that wire first I was hot walking a horse named Castlederg w
