Derby Six for 2/22/15

1. Far From Over  Blame- Alchemist by A P Indy Jockey: Manuel Franco Trainer: Todd A. Pletcher Owner: Black Rock Thoroughbreds, LLP  Derby Points: 10  Very impressed with his effort in the Withers Stakes. After completely losing almost all chance at the break and flying home to catch a pretty good colt in El Kabeir this is one everyone must keep an eye on. He is one of the few horses really bred for the Triple Crown with Blame on top and being out of an A.P. Indy mare this colt will undoubtedly run all day. He is still a little green, but that's only going to fix itself with time. To do what he did in only his second start is unheard of, and that is why he takes the top spot on my Derby six.  Last Race: Withers Stakes   Last Race Finish:  1st  2. Dortmund  Big Brown- Our Josephina by Tale Of The Cat  Jockey: Martin Garcia Trainer: Bob Baffert Owner: Kaleem Shah, Inc. Derby Points: 20  ...

Derby Six for 2/2/15

1. Texas Red  Afleet Alex- Ramatuelle (CHI) by Jeune Homme Jockey: Kent Desormeaux Trainer: Keith Desormeaux Owner: Brehm, Erich, Detmar, Wayne, Michaels, Lee, Desormeaux, J. Keith et al. Derby Points:12  Made his three year old debut Sunday, and he got exactly what he needed out of the effort. Most will think it wasn't a great effort, but he was only about 90% ready for the race, and this is one who is meant for longer distances. He showed a lot in defeat and only looked like he started running the last quarter of a mile. He didn't see the Baffert horse coming at him towards the wire and he looked like he kicked back in past the wire. He's one of the most talented Breeders Cup Juvenile winners I've seen and hes one that has the most potential to get the Derby distance. I'll even go as far to say he won't have an issue with the Belmont distance either. Last Race: San Vicente Stakes Link:  http://youtu.be/8YDVayR2epk Last Race Finish: 2nd 2. Oce...

Derby Six for 12/23/14

1. Texas Red  Afleet Alex- Ramatuelle (CHI) by Jeune Homme  Jockey: Kent Desormeaux  Trainer: Keith Desormeaux  Owner:  Brehm, Erich, Detmar, Wayne, Michaels, Lee, Desormeaux, J. Keith et al.  Derby Points: 12   No Change here still think he is the top threat to the Kentucky Derby at this point. He has the pedigree he has the talent and all he has to do is stay healthy. His turn of foot in the Breeders Cup was unmatched, and if he keeps progressing like he has been he is only going to get better. Last Win:        Last Race: Breeders Cup Juvenile  2.  Carpe Diem  Giant's Causeway- Rebridled Dreams by Unbridled's Song  Jockey: John Velazquez  Trainer: Todd Pletcher  Owner: WinStar Farm and Stonestreet Farm   Derby Points: 14   Another that wont be moving positions anytime soon. He has all kinds of ability and one you definitely cannot count out moving ...

First Derby Six of the 2015 Kentucky Derby Trail

Derby Six for 11/6/14  1. Texas Red  Afleet Alex- Ramatuelle (CHI) by Jeune Homme  Jockey: Kent Desormeaux  Trainer: Keith Desormeaux  Owner:  Brehm, Erich, Detmar, Wayne, Michaels, Lee, Desormeaux, J. Keith et al.  Derby Points: 12  Loved the acceleration he showed when winning the Breeders Cup Juvenile. It was the type of acceleration that reminds me much of Street Sense, now I'm not getting ahead of myself, but this horse just really reminds me of Street Sense. Like Street Sense he had only a maiden win to his credit when he took the Breeders Cup, and also like Street Sense Texas Red possesses a monster late kick that will really come in handy when it comes to the Kentucky Derby.  Last Win:      Last Race Finish: 1st in the Breeders Cup Juvenile  2. SUPER STAKES SATURDAY PICKS!

Here are my picks and  analysis  for the stakes action across the country on Saturday Sept. 27!  Race 4 Belmont Park  2:27APX Post Time  1M Dirt   $400,000 GR2  Kelso  Handicap  #7  Itsmyluckyday : Gutsy effort last out in the Woodward, should appreciate the one turn mile of the  Kelso . Connections are using this as a tactical prep as a possible stepping-stone to either the Breeders Cup Classic or the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile.  ML:4/5  #2 Golden Ticket: Good win last out in the Left Bank Stakes at the one turn mile in which he beat Pants On Fire. Should get a decent enough pace to set up his nice closing kick. He is a versatile type though and can adjust to whatever this field throws at him.  ML:8-1  #3   Vyjack : I still have faith in this very versatile son of Into Mischief. He has been running in sprints since his unplaced effort in the Suburban Handicap. I can fo...
